PRICELESS.....

Priceless... this word has been actually made priceless by Mastercard.... such is their campaign....
For me Priceless are those short and sweet memories which make you feel nostalgic ... make you feel special .Yesterday I had been to my sister's school to pick her up and when I reached the Entrance I found that the Annual Sports Competition was going on ... so I thought I ll just wait for her and was just looking around as what was happening .

Firstly there was a teacher on the stage who had donned the role of the announcer as she would announce the events and also would help in announcing the winners and the runner's up... and she was doing an excellent job as the way in she conducted the events was very professional not to forget her small comic gestures which made some tiny tots smile ... let me tell there is nothing better in this world in making a small child smile...

First on the list was the famous or may be an all time favourite sport for tots " Chamcha Limbu" or " Lemon in the spoon"...( on,in... whatever)... Actually this is a very challenging sport as one's concentration and balance is tested here . The thing is its a race where all the contestants stand in a line and they have a spoon in  their mouth which has a lemon in it... they  have to walk from the start to the finish without dropping the lemon... the person who does it first is declared the winner.

I have fond memories where in winning chamcha limbu competition was a great honour as first of all you would be rewarded in front of the entire school...A great feeling in itself and secondly those small pencil boxes or chocolates which one receives as a prize is something that remains very close to your heart ... forever...

So i used to conduct these "Mock Chamcha Limbu" runs at my place where i used to practice day in and day out and when the final day would arrive ... all those mock runs and practice would just fizz out and the lemon would just pop out from the spoon... There was disappointment but such is the magic of Childhood that we will always finad a reason to smile and laugh,,,, our successes or our failures...

Coming back to the Sports Day there was this boy who single handedly won the competition and the others who did not had a droopy face .. as in they had just missed the olympics... Well I could understand their feelings... for sure..

Next up was the " Sack race" where in you have to wear a Sack and again there is this Race thing which you have to do.. the first person reaching the End wins types... Again here paticipating in a Sack race one has to be some fit as .. the entire process of jumping your way to victory is a very difficult one and tests the stamina of the candidate...

These are the games which are played in almost all schools all over the world... on sports day ocassions as they are easy and they require very basic application .... which any child could do.. such is the simplicity of these games...

Again the Sack race was won by a boy of a particular "house"--- In schools always students are divided in to houses .... or may be groups which bear a particular name ... maybe river names or names of famous personalities... I belonged to " Misisippi " house in school..... The sack race winner had given his house a much needed lead in getting closer to the Rolling trophy the winning house would receive...

After a couple of more Track Events .. and some chess and carrom events the final winner was decided and the house which won the rolling trophy was the one that my sister belonged to and the amount of happiness ,the amount of joy she had could not be expressed in words... It was simply " Priceless"...

The point being she was never a part of any sport , any competition .. was merely a part of the cheer group for the entire sports event but still she had this feeling of one ness for her team , her group that eventually won ... was simply so nostalgic .. As i also was of the same kind...

This is what Sports is all about... this is what Team game is all about .... Oneness.... The feeling of Oneness.....
